NEW CLASS:
Acting With the Poets
Instructor:
Timothy Williams
No prerequisite
Auditioning for, and performing in classical theatre can seem like a daunting or intimidating task to many actors, but in this eight week class taught by Orlando Shakespeare Theater associate artist, and Mad Cow Theatre resident actor Timothy Williams, both advanced and novice modern actors will be guided through a series of exercises and monologue work to better understand a method of stage acting rooted firmly in the traditions of our ancestral performers and poets.
Through a basic understanding of the history of several classical styles, and an emphasis on breath, movement and posture, diction, and text analysis, students of this class will learn to develop a new set of skills that can instill them with the confidence needed to tackle the poetry of the Greeks, the verse of Shakespeare, and the eloquence of Shaw. This is the perfect opportunity for committed thespians to utilize their knowledge of a modern, realistic approach to stage acting to help cultivate a self-assured adeptness at the poise, melodrama, sophistication, and poetic beauty of classical stage acting.
Limited class size. Classes meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7p - 10p, for 8 weeks. $275
